Transform or Build ?

Transform or Build ?

You will say, why choose between Transform or build?  Industry has long time ago adopted an investment analysis from a Greenfield approach (I am building a new plant) or a Brownfield approach (I transform my existing plant). As part of the implementation of a private cloud, for example, you can also ask yourself from the construction of a completely new Cloud compared to a transformation of your legacy. Each approach has pros and cons. For my point of view, I propose an approach that combines both. A project in two phases. Build your Private Cloud with a partner, possibly outside of your facilities. This is to take advantage of industrial know-how and above all not to influence your new implementation with the current implementation. This “new plant” is a model for new practices. It is usually faster to implement and involves less investments. It is also an opportunity to “show” a target for teams but also to strengthen your relationship with a partner to support you. Transform your existing to a private cloud. You might do this by inspiring from the bests practices of your new installation. You have to use the success of your new creation to improve, enhance, enrich and transform your existing. Usually things takes more time but it is during this phase that you realize the great work that combines the teams to new practices.   My proposal is to Build to Transform. And you, what is your...

After the holidays, now is the time of the Cloud!

Children have gone back to school and everyone returns to his business. What about Cloud? Do you want  to know what the Cloud has become when you enjoy the sun or a nap during your summer? The Cloud is still there and everywhere! Offers and various communications from the Cloud are back : for the third year the topic is still relevant. Microsoft has made about him unwittingly in these recent days with a major breakdown of Office 365, Hotmail and Skydrive. It is not without relying on the pair of Windows 8 and Office 365, as pillars of Cloud Computing for all of us.   IBM reinforce its cloud services to facilitate hybrid models. HP holds a Cloud with a more secure access especially to use it in a more mobile mode. VMware, Cisco and EMC reinforce the deployment of VCE Cloud to build highly integrated Clouds. Google believes in it more than ever, but Cloud usages with not connected modes are still very present. Finally, Amazon, IaaS pioneer strengthens its security and obtain the necessary accreditation to provide services to the U.S. government. Cloud-side events: they are already so many! I propose to hold next September 28 Cloud Generation au Palais Brongniart in Paris : come and share! It is also the start of the CRIP, we launch our Season 3 for the Cloud Group. Security, Sourcing, TCO, PaaS, … the agenda is rich and our season will be exciting! And on your side, what is your Cloud news?...
