Cloud Computing Transformation, Move you aaS !

Cloud Computing Transformation, Move you aaS !

Did you heard about Cloud Computing ? Do you have some challenges, to improve you baseline and to give your company some new capabilities or make some savings ? Do you have some new business needs which requires more agility ? Cloud Computing IS the Transformation you have to start NOW ! You can use Cloud Computing as a Transformation enabler, you can use Cloud Computing for helping you in your Transformation Strategy between Greefield or Brownfield, you can use Cloud Computing for improving standardisation AND customization, you can use this opportunity for simplification and last but not least, give your team the opportunity to be Cloud bilingual. Yes, you are right, we see everything as a Service, Infrastructure (IaaS), Platform (PaaS), Software (SaaS), it’s time for you to move… your aaS ! Are you ready to live the Cloud Challenge ? One day it will be...
What use case for your Private Cloud ?

What use case for your Private Cloud ?

The year 2012 will be the Private Cloud as Gartner pointed out in March. This is certainly the most important development in recent months. There are countless projects: POC, RFI, RFP. Entire ecosystem is mobilized by this issue but the fact … For what purpose? Very often projects begin with a Cloud Technical POC. Looking at the latest innovations, where? Blades, virtualization, OS, storage, network? Few significant changes. Converged architectures, automation, portal: some new fact. And? Look how these technical issues reinforce the value of the Private Cloud? Replace the virtualization? The complete? But where? Answer the question of use cases for Cloud is forced to ask the service model with which services consumed by who. And your users? Those who use your vm today. Have you looked at where its stuck with them? What do they do with your vm? Our involvement in multiple Private Cloud projects allows Beamap a panoramic view of needs and especially the ability of providers to respond but that’s another topic. Let’s start with the needs identified in nearly a dozen large companies, the most common: “Test and Dev” Behind the subject of “Test and Dev” in fact hides: – Quick to make available, less bureaucracy, – Not critical, – I can handle myself, – Standard. More PaaS than IaaS, ultimately that is also providing software components (database, middleware, …) because the usages of Private Cloud focused on the provision of pre-configured environments to simplify life of those who use them daily. Here are the five most frequent usages: – Provide a fast OS as a host, you receive after validation the login / pwd machine (IaaS)...
We all need a pebble vm !

We all need a pebble vm !

Do you need a vm, quickly? A vm for testing? A vm to do simple things, simple or less? This vm has simple features just such a vcpu, 2GB Ram and a few GB of disk. You will only have a “simple” level of service as for example a 10 to 12 hours of operating range a day and you will be autonomous for support and for the administration, you will manage incidents and it will be updated systematically every week. This vm will be provided via a portal. You request it and after a validation cycle, you receive an email with the features, links and other accesses. This application is simple to do and the process must be completed in less than a day. I call this simple service, the “pebble vm”. Is the IT can provide this service? Yes, it can certainly afford it but will it be competitive? If you look at a price / value matrix, the IT, might likely be in the “red” area. What allows me to be so positive? (examples below) This “pebble vm”, is found in all “Cloud” offerers or other providers at bargain prices, the IT will never be at this level and it is not his issue. The pebble vm should be your first stone, demonstrating that the IT is able to provide that kind of service. How to provide this service? It is certainly with an industrial partner, whether in the Public Cloud or, if you have the critical size (say 200 mv) within your Private Cloud. Are you ready to start offering a pebble...
